Janelle lost by just 5,000 votes in 2024 in a district Trump won by 5.3 points. With a far better political environment and a popular Governor, Josh Shapiro, running for re-election at the top of the ticket, she is in a very strong position to flip this critical battleground district blue.
From her campaign bio:
Janelle will fight for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and a woman's right to choose. She will work with Republicans and Democrats to lower costs, invest in small businesses and family farms, and ensure access to affordable housing and child care. She supports term limits, banning members of Congress from insider stock trading, and prohibiting members from becoming lobbyists when they retire.
The District
PA-10 includes Harrisburg, the state capital. Ballotpedia's overview of the district. Cook Political Report rates this seat a Toss Up.
The Opponent
Scott Perry has held the seat for six years and sits on the Foreign Affairs and Intelligence Committees. He actively defended Trump's attempt to dodge responsibility for January 6. A local news report covered his telephone town hall held only after weeks of constituent demands for an in-person meeting. American Bridge has a deeper dive into Perry's negatives.
In 2024 Stelson won the Democratic primary with 43.7% among five candidates — her nearest competitor commanded half that. In 2026, three other Democrats have declared but have filed no campaign finance reports.
