How we can help the flip

New Mexicans can and will defend our Blue, Blue State.

We will all do our part on behalf of CD2's Gabe Vasquez.

We will do all we can to return Rep. Leger Fernandez, Rep. Stansbury, Rep. Vasquez, and Sen. Lujan to office as vital parts of our totally Democratic congressional delegation.

We will elect statewide officials who will defend us all and our Constitution.

Plus, we can help our Democratic Congressional delegation by doing our bit to give them a majority in the 120th Congress. Here's how you can help:

These are options of races nationwide where evidence is strong that these candidates could flip Red seats to Blue. They are not the only candidates who might, but the Republican incumbents in these districts have a wide range of vulnerabilities in common. And the Democratic challengers have an even wider range of promising assets.

If you have other favorites, work for your other favorites as hard as you can.

But if you have not met these, you will be glad you did.

How did we pick the candidates?

We considered these factors among current Republican House and Senate members:

  • Rs who told their constituents they would never cut Medicaid, then did.
  • Rs who signed a letter to the Speaker pleading with him not to cut Medicaid then voted to cut it.
  • Rs who were freshmen.
  • Rs who earned severe criticism for MAGA extremism.
  • Rs who are currently defending against indictments for corruption.

We considered these factors among current Democratic challengers:

  • Ds who had contested the seat before with rising vote totals each outing.
  • Ds with wide recognition in their districts.
  • Ds with proven fundraising ability.

We considered these factors applied to districts:

  • Voted much weaker for the R winner than for Trump.
  • Voted for Ds in the past.
  • Listed by Cook Political Report as Toss Up or only Lean R.

Why does it matter that these candidates have features in common?

The intent is to strengthen each chamber as a whole. Our NM Representatives and Senators deserve our support in all the respects that we can muster. One is to help them get excellent colleagues upon whom they can rely in office as much as they can rely on us at home. These candidates, we believe, add more of the same skills that our current delegation already exhibits so well.

You will notice one detail. Where available, we feature interviews with each candidate by the same interviewer. That kind of consistency across recommendations is a benefit, we believe, because it allows us to compare the candidates rather than compare the media about them.

How do you keep up to date on these races?

Our pledge is that we will follow these races and send alerts to all NM Indivisible units that want them through the Indivisible State-wide Action mailing list.

Reach out to any Indivisible unit in New Mexico. Each has a point of contact with us and will both receive and disseminate these Alerts by the means that that unit prefers.

We can do this.
